Abraham waited how long for isaac

Not only to change us to be better but for a better future, no one knows exactly how it will be. Luke tells of a rich man who built larger barns and thought that tomorrow or his future had been secured just fine. He forgot that it is not his wealth that guarantees whether he would still awake the next day or not. There is one thing here that needs to be considered carefully in Genesis Abram means the father who is exalted or glorified.

He was a real big boss in his time with so much wealth and slaves. But he apparently had to learn to humble himself all this time until he found God changed his name to Abraham, the father of all nations. As if God had to erase the I in Sarai first before He allowed her to conceive a child. After all, in alphabetical order, after I is J. So if we would die to ourselves die to the I , then only Jesus able to be revealed in our lives.

They both had become very old. Abraham laughed, Genesis Similarly, Sara also laughed to hear this promise repeated, Genesis After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure? He said, is there anything that is impossible for the Lord? At the appointed time, next year, I will return to you; at that time Sarah had a son.

And yes, in Genesis , Sara delivered Isaac for Abraham in their old age. Just as it is in the Word of God, at the appointed time. What interesting here is this, there is a story of Abraham and Abimelech the king of the Philistines in Genesis This story happened just before Isaac was born in Genesis A similar story to the earlier one when Abraham fled to Egypt because of famine in the land of Canaan.

Abimelech was the Philistine king who lived in two generations: Abraham and Isaac. So this king would have lived for a long period of time, fortunately. Yes, in this age of paganism there would be no moral codes or values to respect. It is all about who is in power. So we can imagine how lust and desireful he was when he was still so young at the time of Abraham. He was a king with many wives and concubines, Gen. And he also took Sara to be his wife, Gen.

And Abimelech was a very young king at that time? Where could we find a young king with a lustful desire for a woman got attracted to an old one who had menopause already?

Was Sara a real beautiful grandma or did King Abimelech suffer from cataract eyes? What happened was this, the power of God Gen. Those who wait for God, get new strength, Isaiah Like an eagle with a new wing soared up into the sky, Isaiah When the eagle came in the phase of renewing his life, he experienced a very painful process of transformation for a while.

An eagle is a bird that can live up to 70 years. But in the middle of that 70 years, when he reached 40 some years old he must decide to experience the transformation process which would be really painful, or to die immediately. Because at the age of 40, the beak had become so long and bent which would be difficult to eat and to swallow its prey.

The nails were dull, the feathers were very long and thick also. So he had to fly high to the top of a high mountain, and build a new temporary large nest. Where he will poke his beak onto the mountain cliff until it breaks, then wait for the new one to appear and grow back. With the new beak, it will pull out all of his old nails. And after the new nails appear, it will pull out all of its old wing feathers to grow the new ones.

After all these painful experiences passed by, a long and painful process , the eagle practically would have had a new young body again! We all start out in our relationship with God wanting to be more or less in control of the operation. Yes we want God, but we kind of want Him on our own terms. We want a God we can fashion and shape, a God who will serve our needs and our agenda. It is especially in the moments of waiting on God to do things His own way, and in His own time, that reveal to us just how deeply entrenched the idolatry truly is within our hearts.

Part of what God was teaching Abraham during those 25 years of waiting was his need to fully let go of his own will.

Waiting on God to fulfill His promises shows us just how truly surrendered to His will we actually are. And in that surrender we will find a comfort in knowing that God is God, that He does not need our advice, that His ways are higher and better than our ways, and that He is good to the deepest core of His being. All is not lost and things have not been thrown completely off course. You are just in a season of waiting.

Everything is happening exactly as God always intended it to. Whether you are currently waiting on a personal promise God has given to you specifically, or are simply longing for the promise of eternal salvation and deliverance that we all share as followers of Jesus, always remember that no waiting on God is in vain.

He never forgets, He never goes back on His Word, and the joy you will experience on the day of your vindication will be that much greater simply because you waited well. This is the LORD for whom we have waited.

As surely as the sun rises He will appear. Few people are aware that the original Passover story is the key to understanding the end times and the return of Jesus. As we are waiting on God to move forgetting in the waiting process that God is waiting on us to listen and learn from what he is showing us and trying to tell us in the process before coming into what God has for us.

Due to this predicament, Abraham was forced to take another woman named Hagar in order to leave his seed on Earth. However, God made a promise to Abraham that he would become the father of many nations by having a son with his wife Sarah. When God made this promise, Abraham believed it, despite being quite old and his wife having attained the age of menopause. Your post popped up first in my phone.

Is there someone whom you can bless and give the very thing for which you wait?

You may have dismissed this person because, like Hagar, they may have a difficult personality, they are wounded. There is no greater faith than blessing another with the very thing for which you are waiting, knowing that you serve a God of abundance. Could God be calling you to supernatural faith?
