Which is better prado or pathfinder
There are airconditioning controls for second-row passengers and vents in the roof lining. The third-row seats are designed to accommodate three people, but are only suited to small kids. Prado has the least leg room and occupants have to adopt a legs-up position due to the location of the auxiliary fuel tank under the floor.
There are air vents in the roof lining. All seats have three-point safety belts and head rests. There are steering-wheel audio controls and the instruments are basic, functional and easy to read.
Access to the rear is good thanks to wide-opening doors but leg room in the second-row is limited. The third-row seats offer the most space with decent head room and good width. Pathfinder offers more cargo space than the others when the third-row seats are in use.
The dash layout is neat with well positioned controls, but the instrument binnacle is fussy and there was a small but annoying rattle somewhere in the centre console. The Pajero and Pathfinder have three 12V outlets each: one in the dash, one in the centre console and one in the cargo area. Prado has two 12V outlets in the dash and one in the cargo area.
When it comes to securing luggage, the Prado has the best tie-down hooks in the cargo floor. The cast metal hooks in the back of the Pathfinder are weak we broke one tying down a tool kit and the Pajero hooks are made of plastic. The Pathfinder was launched in July and has remained substantially unchanged since then. Despite its relatively small 2. The Nissan Pathfinder features a separate body-on-chassis design and the suspension is by means of wishbones and coils at all four corners.
It has a full-time 4X4 transfer case, with driver-lockable Torsen centre differential and lever control of high- and low-range. The rear differential is fitted with a limited-slip clutch pack. A new Aisin five-speed automatic transmission, with taller gearing, has been fitted and manual and automatic Pajero five-doors now have kg trailer towing capacity — up kg on the Prado and equalling the Pathfinder.
Post update models tend to have fewer niggles but a good upper level model from this era might be hard to pin down. This Toyota is a quieter, cushier drive than its rivals here. Like the Pathfinder, though, not every model got curtain airbags and stability control you need an upper level VX and Grande and a reversing camera only arrived right at the end of its life i.
Pinning down the improved 3. However, while gaining one of those assets is certainly possible at this budget gaining all three is less certain, so its win here might be theoretical. The Pathfinder also demands a potential compromise between safety and other factors in this budget range. Cam has been a contributor to Drive for more than a decade. CarAdvice Advice. Probably not. PS Even the front passengers seat is uncomfortable. Thanks guys it was great to hear from some people who actually own Pathfinders for a real opinion on them. Also helps assure me that the extra money spent on the Toyota is worth it!! I read a really scary post on how the Nissan genuine towbar can just snap off completly and people were recomending that if you are serious about towing then you should get a Hayman Reece towbar. What to do??? Not that I'll be doing huge amounts of towing, but when I do it will be over paddock roads and not over bitumen, and I want to be sure that I'm safe when I'm doing it!!
Also trying to keep the cost of our vehicle down, we are considering buying it 'bare' and adding the accessories that we want later on as we can afford them Or no difference?? Probably get the main things like air con, cruise control, and bull bar fitted straight-p to the new vehicle. Still spitting that the standard Prado dosen't even come with central locking. Not technically essential but so much easier Getting a bit off the original topic, but here is some useful basic information on towbars for the clueless like me:.
Though they seem pretty bias towards Hayman Reece, which may not be as wonderful as they make out refer to link in above post. Because of where we live we tend to by our cars with the lot, all we want anyway.
Also I discovered when we bought the Terracan that even for non genuine accessories EG Bull Bar the dealer was able to get a much better price than I could so I got him to get it.
Just my opinion. Just going off topic, sorry Michelle, jonesfam, i don't know whether you have decided on what your getting as yet, but was the 76 series V8 Cruiser wagon one of your choices, they are selling well. Yes that would help, going on the teething problems they are having with the new Defender, it would be my choice of the 2. Go the Pathie, but I'm bias of course.
The problems with the Pathie towbar was when used with a weight distrubtion hitch, just order with a Haymen Reece,. Definately value for money, especially on the poverty packs. The current Pathie has only been around 3 years so you would think they would sort the problem by now. I too would consider hunting down a Terracan if you dont mind a new 2year old vehicle there is some still around do a search on CarSales, com.
In saying this we may be in the same postion next year, if we up grade. They will get there one day maybe Mahindra will put there motor in. It's the new Ford Motor that's the problem, the rest of the car is fine, i would of thought that as the motor has been arounf for some time Ford transit van it would have been sorted, but i guess not and it's Tata not Mahindra that own Land Rover now, rumours are the new motor is a Fiat design, lets hope it's as reliable as the Tata or the Mahindra.
Anyway still surprises this is Englands best selling van. After going to have a quick look at one did not test drive there are a couple of things that have put me off. The VX is even worse. Both have side folding 3rd row seats which I don't like. I have read that the auto box will not hold 6th gear at k. Could sell a couple of kids I s'pose. So it's still a bit up in the air at the moment - but I keep going back to the Disco3 web site. Factory Option pack 1 cruise control and ABS brakes , air con, 3 bar roof rack, bonnet protector, insect screen, genuine towbar, steel bull bar, snorkel and tinted windows.
