How many loads of laundry per week per person
I only do laundry twice a week and don't have any diapers to deal with. DH does try to rewear pants. There will be fewer loads of knits over the summer since DD is out of school and won't have two sets of clothes per day school uniform and play clothes. Our family of seven dirties loads of laundry a week, maybe seven if it's one of those crazy weeks where everything seems to go wrong.
I am surprised by how little laundry others comparatively do. I have a big front loader too. That does not count stripping all of the beds. The only clothes I wash are mine, dh's, and the two little boys; the teenage girls do their own. I do about loads a week for a family of 3. We have sweaters in our clan not the knit variety, the perspiration kind so we go through a lot of clothes, sheets, and towels.
I used to do loads per day, usually 2, totally probably about a dozen loads per week. Our old washer broke and we got a new top loader washer with the largest capasity we could find. I wash about half the loads that I used to wash.
You mean that there are families in which the washer is NOT running all the time? I need to get out more We have a large front loader. I do approximatively 2 loads a day except Sunday. I think there is only 1 load on Thursdays. My kids swim and I wash a lot of towels. About 10 per week here for a family of 5. In the summer it increases a bit due to swimming We got a new high capacity washer a couple of years ago and it has been a Godsend for us. Now I do about 1 load a day for a family of 5.
I have about 7 or 8 loads per week so your number seems about right! I have 1 in diapers overnight, and 2 in diapers fulltime. That's 2 full loads a week, although it gets run through more than once. There's 1 load a week for towels and rags, although the rags and dishcloths go in with regular laundry sometimes. There's 1 load of bedding, usually sheets, most weeks. I don't wash blankets or comforters nearly as often.
We do 1 full load of clothes every 2 or 3 days. My husband's dress pants and shirts don't take up much space.
I tend to wear my jeans and sweatshirts for a few days before I wash them. I probably do 6 or 7 loads a week for our family of 5, barring any surprises. My children have tiny clothes though! My some of you do a lot of laundry. We have 5 and do about 8 loads a week. Sometimes No diapers, cloth towles too. That includes loads a day of bedwetting bed sheets and mattress pads :.
Lots of clothes, rags no paper towels here either , jeans and jammies I do loads per day most days. Occasionally 0 or 3. There are nine of us. Then we have towels, rags, bedding. Also, I have a wonderful huge washer. I got the 2nd largest they had at the store. That, no doubt, helps. We are a family of 5 and I do about loads per week.
I also use cloth napkins and cleaning cloths. In the winter, it's on the higher end of that and in the summer, less. Laundry doesn't bother me, though. Also, my kids are younger, so their clothes are still small. But I guess once they get older they won't be as messy, so maybe it will balance out.
For the record, we don't wash our sheets or towels as much as some people do. I'm not saying I let them go months, but we don't wash them weekly. Guessing about 1. I re-use my bath towels for a long time, and probably should wash my sheets more often, and wear certain clothes more than once.
No pets either. It's kind of seasonal too - more often in the summer as extra sweating, but summer clothes are smaller. I wear more layers in the winter, and bigger clothes. Probably too many. I agree with the my SO generates more. I usually wear my casual business pants times. So my total week looks like this. One load for me.
The wife tends to use more towels and wash every item after every use. She may be close to double. So 2 loads? Then the son is 1 load So 4 loads total? One person, I do laundry approx once every days.
No kids but one dog. I wear clothes more than once. I have tons of underwear. I wash sheets 2x a month. Towels with the weekly laundry. Generally one white, one colored, one overflow beach towels, etc.
The extra is for sheets, which we change every couple of weeks. My work pants get worn a few times between washings like, many. My work shirts only get washed if dirty or if they don't pass the sniff test. It's hot right now, I sweat. We use our towels for a week before washing. Kids' clothing are small.
We're a couple and do one load a week. Two if we're washing the sheets and blankets. We don't give a shit about separating colors or whatever - everything goes in together. Single person, and I typically one load every 15 days or so. Single person, and a bit of frugal clotheshorse, so I do 2 loads of laundry once every days.
I don't have on-site laundry and have to go a few blocks to do it, so that motivates me to put it off. Most of the time it seems like we do loads every weekend. Doing the laundry is one of the chores that we have in our home. We each do a pair of chores for two weeks straight, before changing them around. Well, that means that I only really do the laundry once every 3 months! In our home, once we undress in the evening, we are each trained by yours truly to do one of two things with our garments.
If they are clean, we return them to the cupboard, and if they are dirty, we place them in the washing baskets provided. So, it falls to parents to take up the load — or loads. The average family does their laundry once a week.
Depending on the family size, this can take anywhere between 2 to 5 hours. For a family with pets, doing the laundry can take much longer. Is it worth it? Of course! Pets are a blessing. Everyone does laundry. Your email address will not be published.
