Why is socialized medicine wrong
Some in the US who profit from out current healthcare system appear frightened by proposed changes and are trying to scare the American public with uninformed and sometimes fabricated stories about healthcare in other countries. Whatever variables you use to measure healthcare success cost, life expectancy, etc.
Other western countries vary in the details of their healthcare systems, but they all share the view that healthcare is a human right and should not be a for-profit enterprise. And after living in several countries myself and taking advantage of their health care systems personally, there is no doubt in my mind that some form of universal coverage, not for profit, benefits the most people most efficiently.
Why the false choice? Do you really want government bureaucrats rationing health care? At least with HMOs a company or an individual can jump somewhere else. Where are you going to jump to if the government is the single payer? A third of the people General Practitioners who are best able to take best advantage of a socialized health care system want private insurance. It also might kill you while trying to get you there. Politicians and socialized medicine boosters can always point to the success stories.
They never point at the long waits, the rationing, the inevitable paperwork, the waste, and the inevitable deaths. Try doing that to a government bureaucrat.
We Need to get the insurance companies out of medical care. They drive the cost up with their way of doing their business. We need a national heath care without insurance companies.
